Iga Swiatek wins women's singles title at French Open 2024

Paris, Saturday. World number one player Iga Swiatek has won the women’s singles title at the French Open 2024. Inga defeated Jasmine Paolini of Italy in straight sets in the final match. This match took place on Saturday, June 8, 2024. Swiatek defeated Paolini 6-2, 6-1.

This is Swiatek’s fourth French Open title. With this, this is her fifth Grand Slam title overall. Swiatek also won the French Open in 2020, 2022 and 2023. She became the first woman since Justine Henin to win the French Open three consecutive times. Henin had achieved this feat in 2007-09.

In the final match, Swiatek made a tremendous comeback after being behind 1-2 in the first set. He won 10 consecutive games and took a 5–0 lead in the second set. Paolini saved her serve in the sixth game of the second set but Swiatek then easily won the match on her serve.

Jasmine Paolini reached the final of a Grand Slam for the first time. However, this young player had to face defeat at the hands of Swiatek. Paolini played brilliantly throughout the tournament, but in the final she could not stand against Swiatek’s experience and strength.

With this victory, Swiatek has extended his winning streak in the French Open to 21 matches. His record so far in Rola Garan is 35 wins and 2 losses

Swiatek said after her win, “I’m very happy. It’s like a dream for me. Paolini played very well and I admire her game.”

This victory of Swiatek has further strengthened him in the world of tennis. Her brilliant performance has once again proved her as the world number one player.
